Clara was a student at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance who had created a project based on the Political and Economic Issues of Plastic. She made a 'dress' using recycled plastic bags & created a contemporary dance routine alongside it. The main concept behind it is the way our planet feels trapped & surrounded by a constant flow of plastic. The slow, heavy movements show suffocation & the way we are weighed down by unnecessary waves of plastic flooding our world.
As the photographer, I wanted to find a way to capture those slow, heavy movements. The surrealist play on issues of plastic was so exciting & new to me. The studio light casts soft shadows, whilst elevating the troubled disarray that plastic has brought upon us.
